We can’t believe it’s actually happening!  After years of research, planning and preparation we are now only a couple of weeks away from opening Victor Central Vet Clinic.  We have served clients from Victor Harbor for a number of years via our Riverport Vet Hospital in Goolwa as well as the Strathalbyn Vet Clinic.  In an effort to service these clients better as well as offer our incredible service to a whole new client base, we decided to open a clinic in Victor Harbor.

The planning process has been immense….from selecting the perfect location (across from BigW with loads of car parking and conveniently in the centre of town) to designing the building, researching all the latest in veterinary equipment and even hand selecting the vibrant team that will be the face of the clinic.  At the end of the day Victor Harbor will benefit from having a modern, progressive vet clinic with experienced and compassionate staff providing the best possible care for your pet.  We are certainly excited and looking forward to being a part of the Victor Harbor Community!

To help celebrate the end of this journey, and the start of an even more important one, we are inviting everyone to be part of our GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION on Saturday October the 6th from 11am to 2pm.  Before we open for business (the following Monday) this is a great chance to show off the new facility and provide a fun event for the community.  So if you feel like a sausage sizzle, ice-cream or coffee while meeting loads of animals (including reptiles and local wildlife), having your face painted or maybe even learning something about the local charities we support, there is nowhere else to be…….

The main aim of the day is to raise some funds for local animal charities as well as provide a bit of fun for the local community.  The charities we have nominated include:

  • RSB – Royal society for the Blind – they will be present with some of the seeing eye dogs on the day.
  • Native Animal Network – some of the team will be present to show off the great work they do for our native animals.  There may even be a joey or two……

  • Friends of the SA whale centre – specifically the money raised will go towards their adopt a dolphin program – these are local victor dolphins.  It will also go towards research and preservation of the local marine environment.

Here are some of the fun things we have planned:

  • Animal encounters – with animal capers – there will be “roaming encounters” through the clinic allowing visitors to touch, handle and feed a range of animals including snakes, lizards, crocodiles, owls, rabbits, ferrets and many more.
  • Face painting – 2 face painters keeping the little ones happy.
  • Badge making – a badge making kit will allow kids (and big kids) to make their own “Doctor” badges.
  • Dancing dogs demonstrations
  • Coffee van – freshly barista made coffees
  • Bushtucker ice cream van – mmmmmmmm………
  • Cake stall – locally made yummies
  • Sausage sizzle – run by Victor Harbor Rotary
  • And of course balloons for the kids

Although the day is all about having fun and raising funds for charity we will also have plenty of informative displays.  You will be able to tour the clinic and see how animals have x-rays taken, where they have dental work performed and even check out some surgery.

There will be loads of prize draws and giveaways as well as the chance to win a MAJOR PRIZE – A VET FOR YOUR PET FOR A YEAR!!!!!!!!!

Visitors that fill out a brief entry form at the front desk will also be entitled to a “goodie bag” which will have lots of gifts for them and their pets.

Xavier Minnicon (ex tv personality and weatherman) will be our MC for the day!!

So pop the date in your diary/phone (Sat Oct 6th 11am-2pm), get your party hat on and come and join in the fun…..we would love to see you there.
