Meet Our Vet Nurses & Support Staff

Megan Jeffree

Practice Manager
Riverport & Victor Central

Megan grew up in Pinnaroo and moved to Goolwa when she was 9. She joined the team in early 2012 and started her career in veterinary nursing. She has since moved away from her nursing and has taken on the position of practice manager. Megan is enjoying focusing her time and attention on supporting such a skilled, highly educated and dedicated team.

Megan is an avid member of the Adelaide music scene, loves gardening and volunteers regularly at the Vinnie’s food van.

Megan and her partner are the god-parents to several of the staff pets and have their own little budgie named Corn.

Katie Wiese

Veterinary Nurse
Riverport & Victor Central

Katie started with us as a vet nurse back in 2014. She is a born and bred Victor Harbor girl. Before starting her veterinary nurse traineeship, Katie worked in real estate which has given her all the amazing administration and customer service skills she now has. She enjoys assisting in surgery and loves nursing our hospitalised patients.

Katie enjoys reading and making candles in her spare time.

Katie has a black Labrador named Trevor. She and her husband have recently welcomed an adorable baby girl into the world. 

Peta McAlpine

Receptionist
Riverport Veterinary Hospital

Peta was born in Adelaide and worked as a medical imaging typist/receptionist before moving to the Fleurieu and joining our team in 2013. Peta enjoys snowboarding and cycling and has ridden in many large charity events. An all-round healthy outdoor girl, Peta is an invaluable member of our team.

Peta has two Border Collies named Dusty and Chelsea who keep her extremely busy and fit.

Dani Reimann

Veterinary Nurse / Puppy Preschool Educator
Riverport & Victor Central

Dani is a local girl who has been with us since 2008. She began her veterinary nursing studies when she left school and has never looked back! Dani runs our Puppy Preschool classes and also enjoys the surgical nursing side of the job. Dani spends her spare time travelling and fossicking for gemstones with her partner.

She has two cats named Bowie and Major Tom, a Boston Terrier named Wendy, a Koolie X Cavalier named Martha and an Australian Bull Dog called Sadie.

All her pets enjoy coming to work and getting lots of attention from all the staff!

Vikki Benwell

Veterinary Nurse / Puppy Preschool Educator
Riverport & Victor Central

Vikki came to us fully qualified in 2015, having been a vet nurse for over 15 years! She has worked in busy clinics in the past and loves surgical nursing and attending to hospitalised patients. Vikki is also working part-time as a surgical, emergency and critical care nurse at a referral centre. We are so proud to have Vikki as part of the team!

Vikki lives on a property in beautiful, rural Yankalilla. She has three horses – Kersace, Cassie and Angel and loves riding. Vikki enjoys photography and has a keen eye for animal and scenic shots. She enters her work in shows in the local community.

Vikki rescued two chooks from the RSPCA named Lucky and Frizzle.

Louise McEwen

Veterinary Nurse
Riverport & Victor Central

Louise has spent a lot of time working and traveling around Australia before she settled down in Goolwa in 2008. She is a fully qualified nurse with lots of experience, having worked in clinics across Adelaide and Coffs Harbour. Louise has a special interest in dog behaviour and surgery. She loves caring for animals and making their stay as comfortable as possible.

Louise is currently working with us part time after the birth of her beautiful twin babies.

Keziah Lindschau

Trainee Veterinary Nurse
Riverport & Victor Central

Keziah started working for us in 2015 as a Trainee Veterinary Nurse. She has completed Certificate I in Animal Studies and is currently completing her Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing.

Kez has a property on Hindmarsh Island and lives there with her husband and three young daughters. You’d think with three young kids Kez wouldn’t have time for hobbies, but somehow she finds time to enjoy cooking, baking and working on her latest craft project. 

Kez has a Maltese x Shih Tzu named Bentley and a German Shepherd named Diesel.

Amelia Trowse

Trainee Veterinary Nurse,

Milly started working for us in 2013 as one of our amazing kennel hands. She finished Year 12 in 2015 and has begun her training and career in veterinary nursing. She is very eagerly completing her studies and is loving being a part of the clinic on a full time basis. Milly’s passion is to further her studies in animal behaviour and animal nutrition.

Milly is an animal lover and has a Maltese x Shih Tsu called Lilly, two overly cuddly young cats – Reed and Diego and a cheeky cockatiel called Errol.

Stephanie Blackwell

Steph joined our team in 2016 after graduating from high-school. She has lived on a farm locally her whole life and loved animals ever since she can remember. Steph started studying to become a veterinary nurse in 2017 and is smashing it!

Steph is a country girl at heart – she enjoys spending time outside with her 2 horses Ace and Bess, attending local sporting events and exercising her extremely active kelpie, Archie. She also enjoys relaxing with her three cats – Drew, Kitty and Barney. 

Rhianna Turnock

Trainee Veterinary Nurse

Rhi joined the team in 2017 after doing work placement with us and realising that vet nursing was the career for her. She has just started her training for her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing!

Rhi grew up in Golden Grove, but spent most weekends down on the South Coast, enjoying the beach and surfing. She has always loved animals which encouraged her to explore this new career pathway.

Rhi lives locally with her fiancé and their handsome English Staffy called Barry.

Lisa Drew

Lisa joined our team in 2016 as one of our friendly receptionists that greet you at the front desk.

Lisa grew up locally. She has had animals all her life and would be lost without them. She loves all the extra animal cuddles she gets at work!

Lisa lives with her fiancé and their 3 children – Riley, Ruby and Hudson. She also has 3 dogs – Bella, Lilly and Jet, 2 cats – Narla and Fanta as well as two guinea pigs.

Daisy Blencowe

Daisy joined our team in February 2017 as one of our valued kennel hands. She grew up in England for 5 years before moving to Australia. Growing up with animals, Daisy knew that one day she would love to work with them every day.

In her spare time Daisy likes to ride and compete with her horse, Fin, as well as surfing and spending time at the beach.

Daisy has 2 dogs, 2 cats, 3 horses, 1 pony, 2 alpacas, 2 goats and 2 sheep. Wow!

Lakisha Elix

Lakisha starting working with us in May 2017. She has a passion for working with animals and would love to study to become a veterinary nurse after she graduates high school.

Lakisha grew up in Mount Gambier before coming down to the South Coast.

In her spare time, Lakisha enjoys spending time with friends, making tie dyes and taking her cat, Theodore, for walks.

Nikki Wenham

Nikki is one of our zippy and reliable kennel hands. She grew up on a farm in Yankalilla and has always had a love and passion for animals. Nikki completed Year 12 in 2016 and is now continuing towards her dream of becoming a veterinarian at the University of Adelaide. She is very passionate about helping animals and is often helping out around the clinic in her free time.

Nikki has an adorable Australian Cattle dog named Mia, three cats – Molly, Bella and Shelby, as well as some aviary birds and chickens.
