Meet Our Vets

Dr Alan Mills

Veterinarian – Principal Partner
Riverport & Victor Central

Alan was raised on a mixed farm in the Mid North of SA and has always been interested in the variety a rural mixed practice offers. After completing his studies at Murdoch University in Perth, his first position was at the Strathalbyn Vet Clinic in 1991. In 1993, he took an extended working holiday based in England. A year later Alan returned to the Fleurieu Peninsula and hasn’t looked back! Initially in mixed practice, Alan has since found his calling as a small animal vet, but give him half a second and he’ll have a story about the good ol’ days chasing cattle around a paddock.

His particular interests include surgery, ophthalmology and oncology. If you are ever in need of a good yarn Alan is your man!

Alan’s Pets has two dogs, Tia and Darcy and two cats, Pearl and Edward.

Dr Rhys Hayward

Veterinarian – Principal Partner
Riverport & Victor Central

Rhys went to school in Adelaide before going across to Melbourne and studying Veterinary Science, graduating in 2001. Rhys’ main interests include small animal surgery and emergency medicine. He was admitted to the Australian College of Veterinary Surgeons in the field of Small Animal Surgery in 2010. Rhys loves a challenging surgical case and is our go-to man for orthopaedics (bones and joints) cases!

In his spare time Rhys enjoys cycling, golf and surfing. He follows the Aussie cricket team and is a fan of the Adelaide Crows.

Rhys’s has a Whippador (Whippet x Labrador) called Guinness and a very cheeky cat named Rosie.

Dr Katrina Walker

Veterinarian
Riverport & Victor Central

Katrina was born and bred in Melbourne and graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2001. She spent 2 years in mixed practice in North-East Victoria dealing mostly with small animals and dairy cattle. This was followed by 12 months in Sydney working for a large pharmaceutical company as a Veterinary Technical Advisor. Katrina’s main interests include small animal internal medicine and ultrasonography.

Katrina loves sport and tries to keep fit so she can keep up with her two young daughters. She enjoys camping and travelling with the family. She loves cooking and is always bringing in delicious food for the staff to taste test – we never complain!

Katrina has a dog called Guinness and a cat named Rosie.

Dr Michael (Mick) Quinton

Veterinarian
Riverport & Victor Central

Mick joined the Vets First team in 2015. He has always had a passion for animals – from volunteering with numerous wildlife organisations in SA to patrolling the streets of Rajasthan in India and treating sick and injured animals. He has also worked as a Jackeroo in outback SA and spent time in London, UK working for the Government of South Australia.

Mick is loving life on the South Coast with his wife, daughter and son where he can combine his love for surfing, fishing and veterinary medicine.

Mick has a dog called Noah, a three-legged rescue cat called Quad, Zac the kangaroo and three chickens: Snail, Tickles and Uppies (named by his daughter). Talk about a full house!

Dr Ashley Graham

Veterinarian
Riverport & Victor Central

Ash grew up in NSW on the mid-north coast. She was always around animals and after visiting the vet with her childhood pets, she knew this was the career for her!

Since graduating in 2009, Ash has worked with a variety of animals in Adelaide and the Riverland, before moving locally. We’ve been lucky enough to have Ash as one of our vets since 2016!

Ash and her husband have two gorgeous kids and three cats – Poppy, Cheezel and Willow.

Dr Tina Blom

Veterinarian
Riverport & Victor Central

Tina was born in Darwin and grew up in Alice Springs, where she developed her love for animals with her childhood Rottweiler by her side. Tina travelled to Adelaide to complete her studies with Adelaide University at Roseworthy. While at Uni, Tina worked in New Zealand, South Africa and India, where she was able to combine her love for travel and different cultures with the thrill of developing her skills in veterinary medicine.

Now her sights are set on Goolwa and Victor Harbor, where she has found a healthy love of the beach (Alice Springs didn’t have many of those), as well as camping and hiking with her husband and their staghound x, Ted.
